As the year draws to a close, we reflect on the significant strides and valuable lessons gained in 2024. From legislative impacts to innovation, sustainability, and competency, here are the top five insights that shaped our journey this year:

  1. The Building Safety Act: Adapting to a New Era

This year saw the construction industry deeply engaged with the implications of the Building Safety Act. At Premcrete Ltd., we embraced the opportunity to lead the way in compliance and innovation. The Act’s focus on the "golden thread" of information is vital, but equally significant are the Gateway 2 applications for high-risk buildings. We’ve actively contributed by participating in several Building Safety Act steering groups, including GIRI (Get It Right Initiative), and have gained valuable insights as new members.

Our Premtrac program continues to play a pivotal role, aligning with the Act’s requirements for robust quality control and comprehensive data tracking. Additionally, we’re preparing to reveal exciting innovations in fire-rated products in the new year, showcasing our dedication to safety and compliance. Competence remains a priority—we’ve trained four additional team members with CSSW accreditation and are launching initiatives to support the design industry while partnering with the Skills Centre on a ground-breaking new project.

  1. Sustainability and Innovation: Paving the Way Forward

Sustainability is no longer optional; it’s a necessity. This year, we achieved ISO 14001 certification, demonstrating our commitment to environmental management. Our involvement in Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) exemplifies this dedication.

Our EPD initiatives:

Carbon Transparency:

By providing third-party verified data, we ensure stakeholders understand the carbon footprint of our solutions, aiding compliance with building standards and certifications.

Material Selection for Carbon Reduction:

Products like Hydroprufe membranes and Hydrocrete watertight concrete contribute to embodied carbon reduction in substructures through durability and long lifespans. This results in less material replacement and lower cumulative emissions.

Supporting Circular Economy Goals:

Our verified data allows us to optimize manufacturing processes, minimize waste, and incorporate recyclable materials, aligning with circular economy principles.

Helping Contractors and Engineers Achieve Carbon Benchmarks:

Our EPDs empower stakeholders to meet embodied carbon reduction targets, supporting frameworks like RIBA, BREEAM, and LEED.

This year also marked a deeper exploration into innovative solutions like VOID-TEK, showcasing our ability to blend sustainability with cutting-edge technology, and laying the groundwork for continued advancements in 2025.

  1. The Role of AI and Digitization in Construction

AI has transitioned from being a distant trend to a transformative force in construction. At Premcrete, we leveraged AI to enhance project efficiency, from predictive modelling for substructure integrity to workflow optimization through tools like Premtrac.

This technological evolution has highlighted the increasing need for substructure protection in high-capacity data centres, which are being constructed at an unprecedented rate. Premcrete remains committed to staying ahead of these developments, ensuring our threefold substructure protection solutions are ready to meet the demands of a digital-first future.

  1. Customer-Centric Engagement: "They Ask, You Answer" in Action

Our "They Ask, You Answer" inbound marketing approach has strengthened trust and transparency with our stakeholders. By addressing industry-relevant questions—from Building Safety Act compliance to substructure leak prevention—we have positioned ourselves as a trusted advisor.

A significant initiative in this area will be unveiled in 2025, showcasing how this approach drives meaningful engagement and highlights our commitment to empowering customers with the information they need to make informed decisions.

  1. Looking Ahead to 2025: Growth, Collaboration, and Competence

As we gear up for the year ahead, our focus remains on scaling sustainable solutions, fostering collaboration, and expanding our market presence. Key initiatives include:

Premcrete Academy: Continuing to support the development of industry professionals through training and technical guidance.

Competency Development: Training more staff with CSSW accreditation and launching industry-focused competency programs.

Innovative Partnerships: Partnering with the Skills Centre and other organizations to drive industry growth and upskill the workforce.

By combining these efforts with our product innovations and sustainability goals, we are poised to strengthen our position as leaders in substructure and structural protection.
